The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Lexicon Challenge".
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, CSPics, and myself.
The Result: For this weeks challenge I choose the word "Diaphanous" meaning "Characterized by extreme delicacy of form" This reminded me of the delicate pedals of a flower. While in the new Whole Foods store I saw somw white calla Lily's and I thought of the challenge. I shot these Sunday afternoon and thought B&W would be good for the challenge of what I was trying to convey so I did the conversion in PS and here we are.
 The "Painting With Light" Challenge...06/08/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Painting With Light".
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, CSPics, and myself.
The Result:Painting my car with strobes
11:30 PM on Saturday my neighbors were wondering what I was doing as I painetd my car with multiple flashes off both my strobes. I used 2 SB800'S to do this. 1 under the car in slave mode and another hand held that I walked around firing at various angles to get the lighting I wanted. The yellow streak on the back is the street light reflection. I liked this and left it in the picture for a different effect. The hardest part was keeping myself and the strobes out of the shot.
 The Pen Challenge...06/01/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of the word Pen.
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, CSPics, and myself.
The Result: My pen collection, most of it any way. Not my best work but this is what happens when you try to move 3 rooms of furniture in a weekend and have not taken a challenge shot. Thought I was 20 again. I did get my bike rides in and the yard done too. Got Brenda moved on Saturday to her new office and was running cat 5 cable at 9 pm Sat night. I got an office back at 6 tonight and after dinner at 8 I took this shot. Still have some mees to clean up and will be most of the week doing that.
Pens are L-R: Bexly BX701, Namiki Hawk, Pekian Grand Place, Pekikan M200, Waterman Marquis, Waterman Phileas, Parker Vacumatic (1945) & Parker Duofold (1955, not shown).

The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of, "The Place I Like to Hang Out."
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, CSPics, and myself.
The Result:Yorktown Beach. I puzzled over this one and did not come up with an idea till I talked to Gail last night. I did this at 10 today. Hard to take a shot on my bike, pedlal type and stay upright, LOL. So I opted of this shot I took last weekend right after the rain, Yes I did get wet but as you see the camera still works fine, I ride my bike through this area and I come down here to take pictures so this works. Hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend. I did enjoy to long bike rides and my legs are letting me know I did that today :)
 The Black and White Challenge...05/18/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of Black and White.
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, CSPics, and myself.
The Result: "Strange Brew kill what's inside of you" Cream,1967. Lyrics by eric clapton, gail collins and felix pappalardi

This is what you always wanted to do with you wife's best crystal. Play with water and fountain pen ink. I was not that happy the results late last night so I played around with the shot in photoshop. This is my result. I shot the original subject against a mosaic glass background which gives that ghost effect in the background. I was a bit tired at midnight when I finished but I think I got the effect.
 The A Rose is a Rose Challenge...05/11/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of A Rose is a Rose.
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: This is one of the roses I cut my wife after her surgery. These were growing on our rose bush when we came home from the hospital and I went out and cut a few so Brenda could have some fresh rosed from the yard to look at. I took advantage of this to take a shot for the challenge.
 The Lexicon Challenge...05/04/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of your chosen Lexicon word.
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: For my Lexicon I chose "Case Hardened". As an engineer I know what this means, but most people do not. Basically, a hard outer shell with a soft inside. Bolts are case hardened for strength and to give there shear or holding strenght. Locks are case hardened on the outside. Bolts also have a grade. I have shown 3 types of bolts, a carriage bolt, which is a grade 2 bolt, no marks on the bolt head. You can tell a carriage bolt by the round head. A grade 5 bolt, 3 marks on the head & a grade 8 or 6 marks on the head. What most people do not realize is that an 8 is very strong along the threads, but very brittle perpendicular to the threads. The bolt has no elasticity or bend. The bolt will snap. It is only designed to hold in the direction of the threads. Generally for most things grade 5 bolts are best for things that we do at home and on the car.
 The Furry Friend Challenge...04/27/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Furry Friend."
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result:This is Mittens on the left and Bun-Bun on the right exchanging sniffs. They are both on the floor of my office and I was waiting to see what would happen as Bun is very skittish. This lasted about 20 sec and then zoom off they went :)
 The Tree Challenge...04/20/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Tree."
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: As I lay underneath this tree taking this shoot I was thinking I wanted to try something different for this challenge. Something I would think of that would be different and creative. I tried may a shot that day and evening before I came upon this setup that I was happy with. I thought this was totally different and challenging to come up with so you have my entry. Have a great day.
