John (300m) > Historic Backlight
One of the Historic Taverns in Yorktown proper. I placed the sun at one of the chimneys to block the light the best I could so the right side is pretty washed out in the sky. I chose a split tone for the processing as something different on this B&W
Thanks for all the comments yesterday on the trees. I need to run errands so I will catch up on comments later in the day. Still doing catchup for chores and prepping for tonight.
John (300m) > Altered Perspective
This is a can you guess what John did shot.
I have changed something in this picture and I wonder if you can tell
For the locals this was taken on the Yorktown tour roads

Give up? here is a hint, original shot
Original

What the shot is a reflection in a large puddle of water that I was standing in. (almost got wet). I captured a group of shots as I liked the feel of the sky in the water. I then flipped the canvas 180 for this altered perspective.
John (300m) > Brenda
This is my wife Brenda who graciously posed for me while I took 30+ shots trying different lighting and attachments to a single flash. I did everything from direct flash, bounced, diffused and combo’s. This shot was taken with a Lumiquest 80-20 diffused with a single SB900. Brenda is my star, the anchor in my life and my editor. I bounce ideas and thoughts off her for an opinion I value. She also corrects the less than ideal grammar you see some days on the site.

Thanks to everyone on all the comments over the last 2 days. I am trying my best to catch up. I spent most of yesterday doing chores and then decided I needed to clean the attic. Why I do not know, except it was full of junk and no more room for the Christmas lights and stuff that had to go back. Now I hurt everywhere!! I have this pile beside my house I have to move out to bulk trash today. I get to move it again….
John (300m) > Frozen state
This is a close up shot of a frozen shot glass. Here is a link to the original
Shot glass>
I really like way the glass looked with the whiskey in the tumbler. I took lots of shots before I realized the one with whiskey was melting faster than the empty one, LOL. I have to resort to science experiments as we do not get much snow and ice here at all. Basically little to none. I was intrigued after seeing pitchingwedges pictures. I have more in the freezer and a science experiment in the works. Hopefully they will not melt before I can get a shot. :)
Have a great day, getting lazy getting up at 9:30 vs 4:30 days
John (300m) > Concentration
My daughter Kara playing guitar hero that she got for Christmas. She is the mad drummer right now, pounding away on the drum heads to the beat. She got the Xbox360 elite (our old XBOX died in the fall). Guitar Hero World edition and a new flat
panel TV that you cannot see.

The TV I had promised if she got good grades this year I would replace the old analog set with a new unit. Well, 4 A's and 3 B's later with the A's in here core subjects I lived up to my end of the bargain

Note that you can actually see the floor & I am in the closet taking the shot and that is clean
John (300m) > Reflections
Reflecting the tree in my front yard. The light and the water on this ornament captured the tree reflecting very nicely in the yard

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Very nice here and busy!! Still have tons of family photo's to go through and chores to do before I go back to work. Have a great day folks!
John (300m) > Merry Christmas Everyone!
We are up here just getting ready to open gifts. I will catchup with folks later in the day.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday from my family to yours.
John (300m) > Secret Agent Man
I liked the lighting and the looks of this shot and went for that effect. This is really my brother Dan at the family Christmas gathering when he came up last weekend. I was sitting below him in the room below and fired the flash straight up through the rails capturing the shot in the mirror on the adjacent wall. Then I increased the shadow effect I was looking for in raw and converted to B&W using silver effects Pro

Hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays. I am almost done. I have a lot of little errands to do today to finish before I go to my sisters tonight. Have a great day folks
John (300m) > Kara & Mittens
My daughter Kara and Mittens

Still up to my eyeballs in stuff but I am getting there :)
Have a great day folks and thanks for the comments. Marco did like his new bed, he wants that guitar back out :)
