John (300m) > Braschetta
I really liked how this tomato looked while we were in Fresh Market so I bought this and the fresh bread pieces to make braschetta. The tomato is call an "Ugly Tomato", me I thought it was a cool looking one. Hope you enjoy the shot, we enjoyed the braschetta when I was done with this picture.
Have a great week
John (300m) > Holed Tree
I saw this tree while out on Surrender Field and I walked into the woods to get a better shot. The sun was going down and the light was almost gone so I jumped the ISO up and spot metered on the tree. These holes were everywhere on the tree. Not really sure what they were, but very different. It figures too that when I walked in I would have the wrong lens on the camera. I did the best I could with the shot as the light was gone when I finished. This was the best of the lot I took. Not an HDR, just metered for the dark area and blew out the sky.
Have a great day
John (300m) > Sunset Silhouette
Taken in an area that was hit hard with Ida. I bike ride in this area and was scoping out my riding path to see if we could go down through here. This is a low lying area and floods. To drive yes, ride a road bike no. To much sand and debris still on the roads. But this sunset was very nice and the conversation I had with the folks in the house on the left was very nice. There house was elevated and no damage, but getting out with the high water was very hard. You get these wonderful shots of sunsets but at a price for living so close to the water.
Have a great weekend
John (300m) > Shadow Play
This is the Moore house in Yorktown, where the surrender of the Lord Cornwallis was taken. I really liked the play of shadows on the building and how the light was hitting the house. I was really intrigued with this lighting and it took a few exposures to correctly capture the light. I was late today so I am just getting to post
Have a great day and weekend everyone!
John (300m) > butterfly leaf
I captured this backlit butterfly leaf while out in Yorktown on the battlefield. The majestic feeling I got when I saw this leag over the old dam works on Wormley Creek added to the shot. I dropped the f/stop to f/4.0 and fired off a couple of shots. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Sent another fall scene to my Current Projects/others folder
Fall colors,
John (300m) > Silent Vanguard
I finished my client shot last night and I got to work on some of my own. I took this Sunday when my wife and I toured through Yorktown Battlefield. This is the 1st day after Ida that we saw sun and I wanted to enjoy some fresh air. Lone canon holding Vanguard over the area
John (300m) > Explosion!
I spent the evening working on client shots that I have to finish by Wed. I did not get much time for a daily shot but I did work this up in a whim after working on something for a client and this idea for a daily struck me. ~ 10 min in PS and 8 layers.
An explosion with the fire on top. Alll the layers are 1 item, the original and the color of the top was changed to suit my needs

Like others have can you guess what I started out life as???

Mother nature made me....

I am soft, colorful and move in the breeze

John (300m) > Rose reflections
I wanted to share this rose this morning. Not one of my better mornings as I have a migraine and had gone back to bed for a while. They are coming to fix my garage door, broken spring, so I had to get up. Please enjoy the reflected rose and have a great day
John (300m) > Here is looking at you!
I have not done an SP in a very long time. I decided today would be a good day to go ahead and shoot one. Plus it was still raining and I was bored. To quote a famous line, "Here is looking at you kid". The big bulb on the end is the 14-24mm f/2.8 Ultrawide lens. I loved the rental so much I had to buy the lens. If you have never seen one it is huge piece of glass.
